How do contact lens work?

January 9, 2013

One of the most important parts of our body is the eyes. The eyes are the only part of the body which contains tissue that does not have any blood vessels, which is the cornea.

The cornea plays an important part of the overall function of the eye. It is a smooth outer shell that forms an arc over the iris and pupil. The cornea is completely clear which is why it does not have any blood vessels. The cornea gets oxygen from the air and does this by dissolving the tears and diffusing it throughout the cornea.

When creating contact lens, scientists had to overcome the issue with preventing oxygen from reaching the cornea.

There are two types of contact lenses. Hard and soft. Hard lens are made from materials called Rigid Gas Permeable which allow oxygen to pass through it. Soft contact lens are made from plastic and this plastic is able to absorb water and pass it to the eye.

Contact lens are readily available online from stores such as ClearlyContacts who have great deals especially when there is a ClearlyContacts coupon available. A Clearly Contacts coupon reduces the cost of your purchase.

November retail figures are out and it’s not pretty

There was great optimism that November would see somewhat of a recovery in the Australian retail market with most analysts predicting a rise of 0.3 percent for the month. However, much to the surprise of most people, retail sales actually fell 0.1 percent for the month leading up to the December holiday period. This was despite the fact that there was a rate cut leading up to November.

The sectors that had the biggest impact on retail figures was household goods retailing which had a big 0.9 percent drop. Then there was clothing and footwear which saw a 0.6 percent drop.

Some areas which had a rise were categorised under a non-specific area called other retailing which saw a one percent rise.

One area which did see a phenomenal rise was online sales. This area has continually chipped away at the bricks and mortar sales and is starting to take significant market share. Stores like The Iconic have reporting robust sales in the month and expect bigger figures for December. The Iconic have attracted customers through brilliant offers including offering a The Iconic coupon code.

How to moisturise oily skin

If you are a person that has oily skin then you know how hard it is to find the right moisturiser that makes your skin smooth and soft. You can tell oily skin for regular skin when you see greasy looking skin with pores that are noticeable. The reason that skin is oily is that it has excess of a substance called sebum. Sebum is produced by the skin and is a oily and fatty substance that gets produced by the body’s sebaceous glands. This substance is secreted through the hair follicles in our body and is used by the body to ensure our skin and hair remain soft and healthy. An issue with excess sebum is that it can often cause acne.

The key to moisturising your body effectively is to follow a few key steps. The first is to ensure you exfoliate your body prior to applying a suitable moisturiser.

Moisturisers are now extremely affordable for good brands. Stores like the SkincareStore offer great deals especially if you have a SkincareStore coupon.

Billabong swallows it’s onine rival

December 23, 2012

During tough economic times, Billabong has really struggled to perform. With his high number of retail outlets, the company had to deal with a large number of poor performing stores on the books. Even worse, the company has had a rising rival online in a company called SurfStitch.

SurfStitch is a company that has performed extremely well over the past year and has been processing over 4000 orders a day. Even with the weak retail market, the company has continued to grow month on month. They believe the growth stems from the fact that they have a great delivery offer and you will always find a SurfStitch promo code which attracts consumers.

The company has ridden the wave of Australian consumer behavior where over the past year, Australians are shopping online in droves. The company also has a large range of products and brands which makes it more appealing to a wider range of people.

The Styletread story

December 21, 2012

Style tread was a company that was grown through the idolisation of another company, Zappos. The company launched in November and since then, has seen phenomenal growth and success. The company believes that success is attributed to a couple of key factors but the most important aspect is having attention to detail.

Styletread wanted to create an place where Australian products could have a presence and show their identity. With this in mind, they were able to secure a number of brands that became exclusive to the company and basically was an outlet for that company online. This meant that the company did not need to create their own online presence.

The company provides a wide range of shoes and has offerings for women, men and kids.  The site has been designed such that it is extremely easy to navigate, understand and purchase. They have also had a huge amount of success by offering customers a Styletread coupon with their purchase.

The Iconic – punching above it’s weight

One of the most impressive success stories that we have heard of in the past year is the story of internet fashion retailer, The Iconic. The Iconic have been able to achieve in the space of 10 months, what thousands of retailers have not been able to achieve.

The company has been so successful that it has attracted the attention of international heavy weights including JP Morgan Asset Management who have decided to tip in twenty million in funding to help the company grow. This is a huge acheivement considering the company had only launched 10 months ago.

The company recorded month on month growth of 20 to 30 percent and attracts approximately 150,000 visitors per day or 3 million a month. In terms of the number of employees, it has grown from being a 10 staff team to now more than 300.

The Iconic have achieved great success through providing excellent service and a The Iconic coupon code to consumers to attract their interest.

The iPad’s market share

December 10, 2012

The iPad has been the reigning leader by far in the tablet market since it was released and figures show that it is attributed to other 90 percent of tablet web traffic. This dominance, however, may not last forever as tablets sold by Google, Samsung and Amazon are starting to eat away at the market share of the iPad. Citing research conducted in November over a one week period, data showed that the iPad still had 88 percent of web traffic. In a distant second place was the Amazon Kindle Fire which had 3.6 percent of the traffic. Behind that was the Google Nexus tablet with 0.9 percent of the web traffic. When you have such a large market share, you are bound to lose some of it to the huge number of entrants entering the market. Apple have released products such as the iPad mini to counter this however whether they can remain as dominant as they are remains to be seen.
